Questions
What studios ask before they start.
Do my clients need an account?
No. Clients open a secure link to upload their files, review the previews, leave notes and download the final images. There is no signup, no password and no app to install. Only the studio has an account.
Can I get paid before the client downloads the final images?
Yes — that is the whole point of Handover.photo. The final files stay locked until the payment is confirmed. You store your own bank details, PayPal link and Bitcoin address once — each one you fill in becomes a payment button in the client gallery, and the client pays you directly. You confirm the money arrived, and the download unlocks the same second.
How are the previews protected before payment?
Clients only ever see watermarked previews at reduced resolution. The watermark is added on the server, not as an overlay in the browser, so it cannot be removed with developer tools. Originals and unwatermarked files are never publicly reachable, and every link is signed and expires.
How do I send photos to clients without losing quality?
Messengers and mail attachments recompress your files. Handover.photo passes yours through untouched. The client reviews watermarked previews at reduced resolution, and after payment downloads the exact full resolution files you uploaded — individually or as one zip.
Can clients mark favourites and pick which images they want?
Yes. Clients mark favourites, select the images they actually want delivered, and approve the round. You see the selection in the dashboard, so you know exactly which files to prepare instead of guessing from an email.
How do correction rounds work?
The client leaves a note on the individual image instead of writing an email about "the third photo". You see every request in the dashboard, upload the new version, and the client reviews the same gallery again. There is no limit on the number of rounds.
Can I set my own prices?
Yes, and four ways. A flat price for the whole project. A price per image that multiplies by whatever the client selects. Tiered pricing that gets cheaper the more images they take. Or price on request, which shows no figure at all. You set one method for the studio and can override it on any single project.
Can clients upload RAW files?
Yes. The client upload link takes JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP and HEIC, plus camera RAW from every common body — CR2, CR3, CRW, NEF, NRW, ARW, DNG, RAF, ORF, RW2, PEF, SRW and more. Up to 50 MB per file. Your edited images go back as JPEG, PNG, TIFF or WebP.
Is this a file transfer service like WeTransfer?
No. A file transfer service moves large files and stops there. Handover.photo is photo proofing software with the payment step built in: watermarked proofing gallery, favourites, image selection, correction rounds, payment, and a secure expiring download link for the full resolution finals. The transfer is the smallest part of it.
Can the gallery carry my own logo and colours?
On the Studio plan the client side uses your logo and your colours, so the gallery looks like part of your studio rather than a third-party tool. Free and Pro use the neutral Handover.photo layout.
What does Handover.photo cost?
Free is 0 EUR per month with one active project and 2 GB storage. Pro is 9 EUR per month with 10 active projects and 250 GB. Studio is 12 EUR per month with unlimited projects, 500 GB and your own logo and colours on the client side. Extra storage is 3 EUR per 250 GB per month. Every tier includes the full workflow — watermarked previews, client review, approvals and zip download. There is no annual lock-in.
How is this different from sending a Dropbox or WeTransfer link?
A file link hands the images over and hopes the invoice follows. Handover.photo keeps the job in one place: the client selects and approves images, asks for corrections, pays, and only then receives the full quality files. You stop chasing payments after delivery.
